A TESTIMONY ABOUT JESUS (89) Revelation 16:17 – 21

The great city falls, continued.

After the collapse of the central global authority, the world will split into ten regions. The most influential country in each area will lead that region. These leading countries are the ten kings symbolized by the ten horns of the seventh head, as described in the Book of Revelation. The ten groups of nations are the continuation of the seventh human kingdom on Earth. The ten horns, or ten kings, will oversee global affairs after the great city, the single worldwide coordinating authority, falls. The ten influential nations will administer the world’s affairs by consensus until it is time to transfer power to the eighth king, Satan. Revelation 17:17. The beast mentioned here is Satan—the beast who was, now is not, and will be again. Satan was once the prince of this world; he is not now, but he will return to power when the ten kings install him at the end of the Millennium. After his release from the Abyss at the end of the Millennium, the ten horns, or ten kings, will appoint Satan as the eighth king on Earth. (Revelation 20:7, 8).

John, in Revelation 18, describes the fall of Babylon, the great city, and the central authority. Revelation chapter 19 describes the celebration in heaven because of Babylon’s fall. Babylon symbolizes pride and self-reliance, ignoring God and His plan for humankind. Events leading up to Jesus’ return will reveal the self-reliance and confusion about God that self-centered teachers and authorities have planted in people’s minds regarding the Scriptures. Today, more than ever, people fail to recognize the actual severity of our sin in the Garden of Eden. Due to this confusion, professed believers do not fully appreciate the greatness of what God achieved for us in the body of Jesus Christ on the cross at Golgotha. Human teachings and ideas have caused and continue to cause serious misconceptions about what Jesus Christ suffered on the cross at Golgotha.

There is a lot of confusion among Christians about what God has done for us. God did not come into the world in human flesh to show the possibility of salvation. In the body of  Jesus Christ, on the cross at Golgotha, God has saved the world from guilt and punishment for sin. He has destroyed sin and the sinful human life that separated humankind from Him and has reconciled all people to Himself as His children. People in Babylon pride themselves on their efforts to earn salvation and qualify for heaven. Because of their self-centered pride, they do not realize that people are only fit for heaven in Jesus Christ and Him alone.
