A TESTIMONY ABOUT JESUS (69) Revelation Chapter 13

The beasts of Revelation 13 continued.

“Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.” (Revelation 13:14)

The efforts by the beast from the earth regarding free global trade and commerce began in 1887 but remained largely invisible until after World War II. In August 1941, President Roosevelt of the United States of America (USA) and Prime Minister Churchill of the United Kingdom met secretly on board a ship off the coast of Newfoundland to agree on the Atlantic Charter, which set the goals for the post-World War II world. The United States emerged from World War II as the sole superpower, being the first country to develop and deploy the atomic bomb, referred to as the “fire from the sky” (Revelation 13:13). Near the end of World War II, the United States invited the Allied countries to a meeting to start forming an equitable global system of shared destiny. Delegates from the forty-four Allied nations convened in July 1944 at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, USA.

The primary objective of the Bretton Woods meeting was to agree on a method for regulating the international monetary and financial system post-World War II. The Allied nations assigned the United States the responsibility of maintaining sufficient gold and silver reserves to stabilize their currencies. To facilitate currency stabilization, the United States established the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which aims to promote stable global currencies. Additionally, the U.S. established the World Bank to aid in rebuilding the infrastructure of the Allied nations, which had suffered significant damage during the war and required recovery.

The Allied countries sought to establish a system that would contribute to achieving their global objectives. Identifying such a system was deemed essential for increasing the global standard of living and ensuring global peace. Consequently, the Allied nations tasked the U.S. with leading and managing multinational negotiations concerning the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
