The subjective experience of the objective truth of the gospel.
“Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another with mutual love, showing eagerness in honoring one another.” Romans 12:9 – 10, NET. The universal principle of selfless love regulates newborn Christians. Therefore, Christians must love all human beings, not only those who fellowship with them. All believers must always be subject to the power of the objective truth of the gospel. The Holy Spirit who dwells in us convinces us of the power of the objective gospel.
God took the first step. He reconciled us to him by removing sin and sinful inclinations from us. God gave us the new and perfect life of the promised Son, Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are a new creation with a new attitude and way of thinking. Because of the objective truth, God’s initiative, we have a new and exulted standing before God. Therefore, believers are obligated to live daily in honor of God and Jesus Christ.
After his ascension to heaven, Jesus sent the believers the Holy Spirit to dwell in us and communicate to our new human spirit that we are now children of the Holy God. He convinces the new human spirit in us that we have irrevocable salvation in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit in us transforms us closer and closer to the image of Jesus Christ. Accordingly, when people observe us, what must they see? They must see in yielded believers the supreme love of God toward all people. Then, people will see that the objective truth of the gospel is not a theory but a power unto salvation for all who believe. In the life of the yielded believer, the people must see that the saving power is in Jesus Christ and him only.
