The Little Scroll. What is to be prophesied?
The sixth angel proclaimed that the mystery of God would be accomplished during the sounding of the seventh trumpet. What is the mystery of God? The incarnation of the Savior and the wonderful exchange on the cross at Golgotha is, by far, the greatest mystery ever witnessed by any of God’s created intelligence. For the redeemed and saved humankind, this mystery is beyond belief. The apostle Paul proclaimed this mystery fearlessly. Romans 16:25 – 26.; Ephesians 5:32; Ephesians 6:19 – 20. What God has accomplished on behalf of humankind during the three hours of darkness cannot be fully explained. The knowledge it contains is infinite, therefore, inexhaustible.
The mystery God purposed before he created the world became a reality in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. Ephesians 1:4 – 10. Even though God accomplished his mystery in Jesus Christ, the knowledge contained in it is inexhaustible. Through the remnant in Judah, God kept alive the good news, the coming of the Messiah, who will end Satan’s rule of this world forever. However, the proclamation of the good news by the remnant in Judah was not easy. It had opposition from without and from within the ranks of those who were to proclaim the good news. As a result, witnesses to the mystery of God suffered throughout the Old Covenant time.
Throughout the Old Covenant time, God announced through the prophets that the world’s Savior would come and remove the sin and sinful life from the helpless humankind and give it new and eternal life of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Zechariah 9:9; Isaiah 7:14. Satan did not appreciate the Proclamation of the good news, so he employed every evil means available in his arsenal to inflict pain on the remnant in Judah. However, the time came when God spoke to the dying humanity through his Son, the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Hebrews 1:1 – 2. (What Messiah did accomplish will be described in blogs concerning the seventh trumpet.) Because the accomplishment of the mystery of God is a reality, Jesus commands John. “Then they told me: You must prophesy again about many people, nations, languages, and kings.” Revelation 10:11, NET. Therefore, the message must be proclaimed without ceasing.
