A TESTIMONY ABOUT JESUS (27) Revelation 6:1 – 2

Why did Lucifer rebel against God?

Lucifer is the highest order of created intelligence. (Lucifer means the shiny one). He was the light bearer. God is light; therefore, Lucifer represented God wherever he went. However, Lucifer was not satisfied with who he was; he wanted to be God. “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above stars of God; I will sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest side of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.” Isaiah 14:12 – 14, NKJV. (The above reflects the understanding of cosmology in biblical times). God gave the above message to the prophet Isaiah. Lucifer was full of himself; he began each phrase with “I.” However, God did not favor Lucifer’s “I”; therefore, he said, “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.” Ezekiel 28:17, NKJV.

Lucifer wanted what did not belong to him: the Creator’s sovereign prerogatives and privileges. However, Lucifer could not be sovereign because he is a created intelligence.

Created intelligence cannot become knowledge; it can only possess the acquired knowledge. God is intelligence, Spirit. Therefore, he generates all knowledge that exists. Created intelligence cannot create new thoughts and new knowledge. We experience the thoughts, knowledge, and sequences of events that transpired in God’s mind before he created all.

Lucifer, perhaps, convinced himself that he became who he was because of his wisdom, knowledge, and power. He became proud of his uniqueness among the created intelligence, the angels. Therefore, he wanted privileges that did not belong to him. All the power, honor, and Sovereignty belong to God the Creator only. So God expelled Lucifer from heaven for the good of eternity and his Dominion. Lucifer lost his home, so he went out of heaven with the intent of securing a home for himself and his followers. The opening of the scroll’s first seal depicts Lucifer’s expulsion from heaven.
